What’s the double planetary mixer?
The double planetary mixer is a type of industrial mixing equipment. It is used for mixing, and dispersing for various high-viscosity materials such as sealants, adhesives, paste polymers, and so on. The main functions include a vacuum system, a water jacket for heating and cooling, a mixing system, and a lift system for discharging. The mixing system includes two kinds of mixing series. One is all the agitators rotating on their own axes. And another is these agitators also revolutionize mixing in the whole tank. The agitators in the double planetary mixer include two (a pair of ) low-speed mixing paddles, a scrapper, and high-speed dispersing. Generally, there would be another agitator for the temperature sensor.
Material for making double planetary mixer
There are several kinds of material used for making double planetary mixers including Stainless steel, Q235 steel, PTFE, VITON, etc. Stainless steel with the features of anti-corrosion is used as the most important material for the mixer. All the parts including the cover, tank, and paddles are made of stainless steel. The frame of the mixer is made of Q235, and covered with a stainless steel sheet. The material for the seal parts is VITON. The Scrappers are made of PTFE.
Style of low-speed planetary mixing paddle :
There are several kinds of low-speed mixing paddles, such as screw paddles, multi-shaft paddles, and so on. The most popular style of paddle used in industry manufacture is the screw paddle. The screw paddle is made of casting, so with the features of big strength, it can load heavy and very condensed material. What’s more the special belt screw shape design can turn the material up and down in the whole tank. The mixing speed of this paddle is 0-100rpm. The speed could be adjusted by a frequency converter to suit different manufacturing processes and different materials.
High-Speed Disperse mixing:
For the high viscosity and condensed material, there would be a large quantity of powder that needs to be mixed in the initial period. The high-speed disperse disc could scatter the powder into liquid quickly in a short time. For a capacity less than 50L there would be one shaft for high-speed dispersal, and one piece of disc is installed on the shaft. For a capacity over 100L, there would be two shafts for high-speed dispersal. We could equip two pieces of discs in each shaft. So in the large capacity of the mixer, there would be 4 pieces of discs in each mixer. The speed of high-speed disperse is 0-2800 RPM. The user could adjust the speed by frequency converter.
Revolution Mixing System
·All the mixing paddles are installed in a whole gearbox. This gearbox is driven by the same motor with a low-speed mixing paddle. The whole gearbox would move in the whole tank, in this case, all the paddles would move in the tank accordingly. One most important advantages is that the scrapper is also in installed the gearbox. The scrapper moves in line with the inner wall of the tank, and it can sweep all the material in the tank.
Temperature control system
Temperature control system plays a great role in the mixing process. High temperatures can improve the process of different materials mixing sufficiently. What’s more some materials can only melt at high temperatures.
How to heat and cool?
The tanks are made of two or three layers of water jacket. There are two ways for users to heat. For lab scale tanks, users could send tap water to the jacket directly, and the water could be heated by an electric pipe directly. For big capacity, users could send hot water or steam for heating. To get precision temperature timely, two temperatures are equipped in the mixer. One is installed in the shaft moving the the revolution system, and another is the water jacket. For cooling, if the target temperature is close to the environmental temperature, it could connect to tap water. If a lower temperature is needed, a chiller could be used for cooling.
Vacuum system
The vacuum system is to absorb the air from the tank so that the pressure in the tank is lower than the surrounding atmosphere pressure. The ultimate vacuum pressure in our machine could be made at -0.1mpa.To get a fine, smooth, and without contaminants final material, the vacuum system is an essential part of the mixer.
